Malcolm Sydnor, M.D.
Assistant Professor, Radiology and Surgery
Malcolm Sydnor, M.D., is a native Virginian and graduate of Hampden-Sydney College in Hampden-Sydney, Va. He completed medical school and his Residency at Virginia Commonwealth University, followed by a Fellowship in Interventional Radiology at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Va.
Now an Assistant Professor of Radiology and Surgery at VCU, his special interests include treatment of varicose veins, spider veins and other venous diseases, as well as the treatment of peripheral arterial disease and spine fractures. His research includes interventional radiology in trauma and vein disease.
Dr. Sydnor, an American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers-registered physician in vascular interpretation, started VCU Vein Care in 2005 and has since successfully treated hundreds of patients with venous disease.
He lives in Richmond with his wife Lauren and their two dogs, Gracie and Daisy May. He enjoys golf, fishing and other outdoor activities.
Daniel Leung, M.D.
Associate Professor, Radiology and Surgery
Daniel Leung, M.D., completed medical school and his Residency at the University of Zurich, Switzerland, followed by an Interventional Radiology Fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania.
Formerly an Associate Professor at the University of Virginia, he is now the Director of Vascular Interventional Radiology at VCU. Dr. Leung specializes in the treatment of varicose veins, aortic stent grafts, peripheral vascular interventions and oncologic intervention.
A dual citizen of Switzerland and Hong Kong, Dr. Leung now is a permanent resident of the U.S. He fluently speaks English, German, Chinese (Cantonese) and French. He enjoys golfing and is married with two children.
Daniel Komorowski, M.D.
Assistant Professor, Radiology and Surgery
Daniel Komorowski, M.D., is originally from Wisconsin and completed both his Degree in Medicine and his Residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, Wis. In 2004, after moving to Virginia, he completed his Fellowship in Interventional Radiology at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Va.
Currently an assistant professor of radiology and surgery at VCU, Dr. Komorowski, specializes in oncologic intervention, radiofrequency ablations, embolotherapy and varicose vein ablation therapy, spider vein injections and other vein treatments.
Dr. Komorowski enjoys traveling, running and spending time with his young family.
Jamie Tisnado, M.D., F.A.C.R.
Professor, Radiology and Surgery
Jamie Tisnado, M.D. attended medical school at San Marcos National University School of Medicine in Lima, Peru. He was a resident in Radiology at the Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and in Pediatric Radiology at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia in Philadelphia, Pa. He then completed his Fellowship in Angiography and Neuroradiology at the Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.
Dr. Tisnado has been a professor at VCU Medical Center for more than 30 years and specializes in vascular stenting/recanalization, trauma and pediatric intervention, and peripheral vascular disease including varicose and spider veins.
Dr. Tisnado enjoys traveling the world, playing soccer, skiing, scuba diving and spending time with his three professional children.
Alicia Wood, PA-C
Physician Assistant-Certified
Born and raised in Central Virginia, Alicia Wood graduated from Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs, N.C. She earned a Master’s of Physician Assistant Studies from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Va.
Now a Physician Assistant-Certified, Alicia joined VCU in June 2006. She specializes in varicose venous disease and venous access procedures, as well as palliative/oncology intervention.
Married with one son, Alicia enjoys traveling and outdoor activities in her spare time.
Natalia Slobodnik, NP
Nurse Practitioner
Born in Russia, Natalia Slobodnik received her initial medical training at the Gorky Medical Institute. A graduate of the VCU School of Nursing, she now is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner.
She specializes in venous access and other venous procedures, including laser treatment for varicose veins and sclerotherapy.
Active in the local community, Natalia assists people from Russia with translation and other needs. She has three children and enjoys a “second career” as a soccer mom.
